Menhirs of Vangchhia were discovered in the year 2010 by retired IAS officer P Rohmingthanga.

There are more than 250 Menhirs discovered and mostly are broken into pieces.

Later, a huge stone structure with multiple cup marks was found. Archaeologists have named it the water pavilion however its purpose is still unclear.

Above the menhir complex area, five caves were found by ASI Guwahati circle and now it is protected site along with Menhir complex. From caves, some of Maynamr villages can be seen.

According to locals, these caves were used as watchtower to keep an eye on enemies.

ASI Guwahati also made a lookalike of Zawlbuk for tourist to preserve Mizo culture.
